Continuing with the success of the junior sessions we are planning the following program of sailing for the Juniors prior to racing on a Saturday. The aim of this program is to introduce children to sailing and then progress their ability to the point the can join club racing. The primary three fleets of boats are Optimist, Tera and Mirror classes however older children can join in other suitable boats such as Toppers and Lasers.
The Sessions will start with a 1200 briefing with the aim of being on the water for 1230. The sessions will last approximately 1 hour to allow kids to participate after lunch in club racing. We will start the sessions on the 20th of April and run them weekly until the weather is too cold later in the season. Cadet sessions are planned on a messenger group where a decision as to whether to run the session depending upon weather and volunteer availability is usually decided on the Thursday of that week.
These session are intended for parents to be actively involved in teaching their children to sail or assisting those that can. We expect at least one parent/guardian per family to be dressed and equipped for on the water assistance at all times during the sessions.
The following open meetings are to be held at the club and are suited to the juniors within the club.
- 28th of May Tera Open
- 16-17th of July, North West Junior Traveller Trophy (mixed class event)
