All the Best Laid Plans

The multitude of sailors that turned up ready for the first race of the season were in for a bit of a wait for the wind to fill in, but at least the sun was shining! The OD opted to planan early lunch with the the aim of having two races back to back. The waiting continued, and as Poppy was about to head out in a canoe, grandad Jim eagerly changed plans as the wind started to fill in, and got their boat back to the water’s edge. That killed what wind was there, and Poppy got to do some canoeing.

Shortly afterwards racing was cancelled for the day. Perhaps it’ll start next week?

Wakey, Wakey!

Not only did Spring start last week, but we’re now into Summer Time – yes, the clocks went forward an hour last night!

That means that the sailing season starts today! So get down to the club and enjoy this glorious weather, meet up with sailing friends old and new, and you could even go racing…

Enjoy

Lake Level

Can you believe it?! Aweek before racing starts and the wet weekend takes its toll on the lake level.

Friday update – All boats have been moved off the first row, but water still remains high for those boats at the foot of the embankment. If your boat is there, please check it’s safe.

New Season Looms!

Keith Thomas wonders whether Alex and Robin are praying rather than sorting chains

With the new season just a week away it’s been a busy weekend (in miserable weather) preparing the club and grounds.

One final working party next Saturday if you can spare a couple of hours to help out it would be much appreciated. As a treat we’ll start the season the very next day. Are you ready

Christmas Stocking Filler

Associate membership of the RYA is a newly created category available to our members. If joining online a discount of 5 can be claimed by use of code TCPP5. So spouses could buy their other half membership at the discounted rate, or kids could put this code in their parents stocking!

Another option would be a club tie as we have recently purchased a small supply of ties emblazoned with the club logo. Pick one up at the children’s party this Sunday

That’s it for another season

The final race of the season. But it nearly didnt take place! The electrics failed on the boat house door and it took Joe, Dave Nic and the Rescue Lads an hour to get a safety boat out using the complex manual override.

Again it was a race office start in light conditions and, again, it was Neil who got through into the lead in his Laser with Tony nearly a minute behind. But the Solo has the better boat handicap and Tony took the win. This created the fascinating position of Tony and Mike in his Streaker having three wins and a second each. Tony took the Series on countback.

The PH result also created a fabulous finish with Paul in his Laser taking the win by just two seconds on corrected time from Johns Radial and Tony only managing third. So it was Paul who won the PH Series from Tony by a single point.

Roll on next season!
