Light Working…

The weekend working party tackled various tasks

– Replaced the items salvaged under the Race Officefrom the Clubroom back in there(and helped to fill the skip with rubbish)
– Sanded the wooded floorto create a key

Then the varnishing began:3 coats,7 people each day, only took an hour and a half each coat. Many hands made it really easy but thetrouble was they developed a thirst

It’s good to keep the machinery oiled

Great result. Too good to use?!

Light Out?!

Please note that there will be House and Grounds working parties this weekend starting at 10 oclock each day.

You don’t have to commit to being there both days but all help is appreciated and it reduces the burden on council members and various regular stalwarts.

As for the light out, AJ says Many hands make light work

Something for nothing

Or perhaps a donation to the RNLI…

We have been offered a Crewsaver M/L trapeze harness (drysuit has gone)

The harness has been used for a couple of winter seasons sailing on a Dart, a couple of slightly worn bits of webbing, which is from about 2008.

If anybody is interested please email us so arrangements can be made for it to be dropped off at the club, or it can be picked up from either Loweswater or Grange-in-Borrowdale (depending on where the owner is at the time)

Walk No 2

The strange stances were due to the windy conditions

The junior walkers had to be held upright!

Just as well Cameron was well wrapped up

Although blustery, the weather stayed dry for the 2nd close season walk. Some braved it to the top of Binsey without being blown off!

Did Graham opt, or was he forced, to walk back (but he did make it back safely)?

On return to the club, stand in social secretary Alastair cut his homemade cake to share and help re-energise everyone.

On Saturday, the replacement of the race office floor and balcony beams was well underway

Sad News

20140203-210349.jpgWe have just been informed of the sudden and untimely death of Peter Ballard whilst on holiday in Madeira.

Peter has been an active and popular member of the club over recent years and he will be greatly missed.

Our thoughts and wishes are with his wife Anne and family at this sad time.

Peter’s funeral was held on 24 February.

Foxy Tales

Christmas is over, the miserable weather continues, and the sailing season has yet to start. While you’re quietly tucked up in front of the fire, put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) and draft a short article for the forthcoming Foxy Tales.

You’re welcome to share your thoughts and experiences on any subject that you consider the rest of the membership may be interested in reading.

Please submit your article to Robin Dawson by the end of February do the latest edition can be compiled in time to be sent out with the handbooks.

Thanks
