Bank Holiday Planning

Good afternoon folks,

Just thinking ahead to the Bank Holiday weekend, there’s a heatwave on the way!! On the Saturday we have The Hunters Curry Night, Kerri has another thread running for anyone who would like to order, and on Sunday we have The Great Big Bass Spring Very Posh Bring and Eat Dinner”!!

In years gone by we have held a Spring Dinner Dance at an outside venue, this has fallen by the wayside for various reasons, and it would be lovely to try and re-introduce it into the social programme! We will have a separate children’s buffet table, they can have the same food as the adults, with a few more child friendly offerings should your little treasures prefer it, but at a height that they can see it all and so they don’t have to queue with the hungry adults!!! Regarding the hungry adults, we might have to limit portions of hot food to a couple each so that everyone gets a share of something hot!! ???????!!!!!!!Because it’s attempting to be a Posh Affair, perhaps we women could wear pretty frocks and the men could wear shirts, with their shorts obviously!! I’m not expecting dickie bows!!

And I’ve got some new balls, ??, so we could even try to have one of last years postponed rounders matches!! JD could Skype himself in as the umpire!!

Here’s to a fab weekend, see you all on Friday

Andrea xx

Hello again, after the atrocities in Manchester this week, I as soooo looking forward to catching up with my Big Bass Family at the weekend in what I deem is to be my “safe place”!

Anyway, just to suggest that people add a small lump of fancy cheese and a few fancy biscuits to their shopping list so that we can create a cheeseboard for each table after the Bring and Eat on Sunday!!

Thank you, Andrea xx

Winter Walk

walk1802There was a good turnout for the Winter walk by members young and old.

Sale Fell, which regularly is the bane of our sailing experience, was the target for the main group, while another cohort walked a lower route through the forest.

As can be seen, just, the weather on the top of Sale Fell was somewhat misty.

Everyone made it back to the club for lunch and then the DragonForce fleet took to the water for some light competition…

Children’s Christmas Party

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!!! Only 12 sleeps to go!!

It’s the children’s Christmas party this Sunday from 3pm, all are welcome, both young and old, please could I ask you to bring some savoury and/or sweet party food contributions for the communal party table!

Looking forward to seeing everyone for a pre Xmas catch up

Annual Dinner

[lg_slideshow folder=”album/16sundry/Annual dinner” display=”slide”]

Over 70 members and guests enjoyed the 65th Annual prize giving dinner dance at the North Lakes Hotel, Penrith. The DJ had guests dancing on their seats (led by JD – members of the Facebook group will have seen this video), all for chance of winning a bottle of wine. Following a speech by the Commodore reviewing the year, and awarding certificates acknowledging various achievements, the array of prizes won throughout the season were presented by Kirstie Somerville.

Robbie D thanked the outgoing Commodore and presented a set of flute glasses to Mark and Kirstie for all their efforts over the last four years.

The evening was topped off with dancing until the early hours.

The 65th AGM is being held this afternoon following the final race of the year.

Build a Bonfire

There was a successful evening of celebrations forbonfire night celebrations on Saturday. Thanks to all those that contributed to, and helped build,it.

After the bonfire was lit there was a fireworkdisplay from the end of the jetty

Fun weekend

As the weather is looking ok for the upcoming fun weekend, we’re overdue a rounders match, and your sociable social secretary is hoping to have another communal BBQ with our lovely and shiny new BBQ’s, followed by bingo, other games and killer pool!

Hope that sounds like fun and it tempts you to join in!!!

RNLI Bring and Buy Sale

The 1 Bring and Buy Sale, as advertised in the club handbook has now been changed to an ‘unlimited sale’. Following the article in Foxy Tales, written by Tim Chittendon, about Cumbria’s new Life Boat we want to raise as much money as possible towards the appeal.

Please turn out your cupboards for any unused, unloved or surplus items to donate to the sale. Kitchenallia; home made chutney and jams; plants and plant pots; toiletries; books, CD’s, toys, DVD’s and bric-a-brac ; handbags, scarves & jewellery; etc. etc. NO electrical goods and NO shoes and clothing other than sailing related items.

All unsold items, not reclaimed at the end of the sale, will be distributed amongst the local charity shops.

We also plan to hold a raffle for a food hamper. There will be a collection point over the bank holiday weekend for any donations towards the hamper ( hampers ? !)

Please come along and support this worthy cause. Clear out your clutter, have some fun and raise lots of money.

Stephen, this is your opportunity to find new homes for all of the unwanted, unused Disney presents that I have given you over the years!!
